Case Study - Dumeco
Background
Dumeco is an internationally operating food services company, primarily active in the Netherlands in the trade of live stock, production and sale of breeding materials, the slaughter of pigs and cattle and the processing, production and sale of meat products. Therefore it also produces abattoir by-products. The group has over 5,000 employees distributed across 17 production companies in Holland, Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Hungary.
Manageability of Lotus Domino
Arthuur Weeterings, Dumeco’s ICT Service Manager, and his colleague Johan Pauwels of Service and Management experienced performance problems within their Domino environment. Several Personnel changes within the management organization caused confusion on some areas within the configuration, which meant that the performance in regards to the end users left something to be desired. The primary causes were problems in the replication traffic and the mail routing. It also became apparent that some users were using applications at other locations instead of at their own locations. Furthermore, the day-to-day management was taking too much time. The two began searching for an option to deal with causes and solutions in a cost-effective way. Arthuur and Johan then got in touch with Trust Factory and got introduced to DNA.

With the results of the DNA, several configuration problems could be high lighted and described in detail. With these facts and details in hand, the solutions to the problem were straight forward. The result of the analysis was a clear and concrete management presentation and a set of structured data, which served as a basis for an extremely quick solution. After DNA was complete, the management costs were able to be reduced by 50%, significantly lowering the total cost of ownership of the entire environment.
